Safety wellington boots in all colours

After the coverage given to wellingtons during the summer festival seasons of the last few years, you might be forgiven for thinking that everything possible has been said about wellingtons.

Not so, because not all wellingtons were created equal. Some have sneaky modifications, such as steel toe caps and reinforced midsoles.

Safety wellington boots are available in yellow, white, blue, brown and green and look no different to the much-prized Hunters and the like often paraded by celebrities in muddy fields.

But they are sturdier and conform to standard PPE rules and regulations for a number of industries. Dunlop, famous for its fashion wellies, makes safety wellingtons under the Purofort FoodPro Multigrip label costing around £45

These are suitable for wear in the food and cold storage industries because they are slip resistant, have an insulated upper, are flexible even in extreme temperatures and are resistant to a whole range of potential contaminants.

In addition, as they are wellingtons, they are easily cleaned by hosing down. For a cheaper option, the Acifort design repels a long list of substances, has a washable nylon lining and stainless steel midsole for protection from puncture wounds in that vulnerable area.

If your budget doesn’t stretch to Dunlop safety wellington boots, the Tuf brand also has a range of safety wellingtons.

These are priced from £13, with the cheapest options being made of PVC, which is resistant to oil, acid, alkali and fat. The £14 pair also offers protection from piercing in the form of a steel midsole, while the £25 pair has a number of additional features designed to increase safety and hygiene, including a reflective back panel, raised toe profile and washable insole.

In the world of safety wellington boots, the more expensive pairs will have more protective features.

Dunlop safety wellington boots, bearing the name and logo of the famous rubber products company, pack far more features into a pair of protective boots than some of the lower priced competitors. The trade off is the price, as they are more than three times as expensive.

It’s fair to say that wellington boots have gone far beyond the festival crowds these days. They are also no longer just to be worn for walking the dog, cleaning the car or working in a wet garden.

Alongside their new found fame as preferred festival wear, wellingtons are also enjoying a parallel existence as fully fledged safety equipment, with safety wellington boots suitable for protecting the wearer against far more than a muddy field.
